Entry Requirements
- Applicants must be aged 16 or above.
- OTHM does not prescribe formal entry qualifications. LSBC assesses whether applicants have the capability to undertake the learning and assessment at the required level.
- Assessment is in English. Applicants should have sufficient English-language ability to engage with the course and complete their assessments.
Equivalences
The OTHM specification describes Level 3 qualifications as comparable in academic level to GCE AS/A Levels. This refers to the level of learning; it does not mean that this diploma is identical in size or content to a particular number of A Levels.
Qualification Structure
Complete four mandatory units and two optional units to achieve 60 credits. Each unit carries 10 credits, 60 guided learning hours and 100 total qualification hours. LSBC will confirm the optional units offered to your cohort.
Duration and Delivery
- Duration: Six months, as stated in the specification. The qualification comprises 600 total qualification hours, including 360 guided learning hours and approximately 240 hours of other study and assessment activity.
- Delivery at LSBC: Online or blended learning, supported by Moodle, live teaching and independent study. Your confirmed timetable sets out teaching sessions, attendance requirements and assessment deadlines.
Assessment and Verification
- Coursework: All units are assessed internally by LSBC and externally verified by OTHM. Assessment is in English and the qualification is graded Pass or Fail.
- Achievement: To pass a unit, you must meet every learning outcome and assessment criterion. You must pass all six units in your agreed programme to achieve the diploma.
- Submission and feedback: Submit coursework through Moodle and receive tutor or assessor feedback there. Where further work is needed, your tutor will explain the required improvements and reassessment arrangements.
Progression
- Progress to a Level 4 diploma in business or a related subject.
- Apply for entry to Year 1 of a UK bachelor’s degree, subject to the university’s course-specific admission requirements.
- Develop underpinning knowledge and transferable skills to support employment and further professional development.
